The lady who found Ecson was working in her vegetable garden on Easter Friday. Her garden is next to a very big rubbish dump. She heard a noise coming from the trash and thought it was a snake. The Saturday she attended to her garden again and heard a baby crying, she continued working thinking it was the neighbor’s baby. On Sunday she heard the baby cry again, but no one else did, so she continued with her work. Sunday night at 23:00 she told her husband that she is hearing the baby cry again. He responded to her that he thought it was a kitten. Later he told her that he is hearing it too. They went outside and followed that sound up to the trash hole. And then the crying stopped. Her husband told her that he couldn’t find anything. They called the neighbors to come and help to search for the baby. Eventually the baby cried again. Her husband jumped into the trash hole and started digging in the dark, but could not find anything. Then he saw a black trash bag sticking out from under a lot of garden refuge. He threw the stuff off and grab the plastic bag and there underneath the plastic, trash and rubble laid a baby. He was very weak and had a terrible stench on him. He was covered in ants and maggots and worms. They called the police, who came and accompanied them to the hospital. The nurses were so shocked, that they did not even want to touch this baby. He was washed and admitted to hospital. After a week in hospital, he could not even open his eyes yet, because of the maggots that were in it. His umbilical cord and navel was full of maggots and worms.

Now today, two weeks later, Ecson Patrick has come to live with us. He is extremely tiny and has no fat on him. His back has scars and sores of were the glass had cut him when he was in the trash hole. But, he is loved and welcomed in to the house as a brother and child. The lady who found him said she believes God has a plan for this child and wants to try to adopt him. Isaiah 49:15 God: Can a mother forget the baby at her breasts and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will never forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands…

We started building Casa Gemma in February 2012. The house will be home for 15 children. It is located on a property just outside Matola. We want to build a beautiful house that the children will know it is their home. We are currently renting our two properties. Casa Gemma is designed to house 15 children and make them live comfortably. Casa Gemma is build in three phases. We finished with phase one and now need a further 20 000 US dollars to start and finish phase two.

It is a very big leap of faith for us and we know without Jesus this vision is not possible. Jesus has provided for purchasing the land and for phase one. We know He will provide for us to finish Casa Gemma.

We also want to thank Project Moz and Moz Kids for partenering with us for providing a home for 15 children.

We do need your help to finish building Casa Gemma. Please partner with us in praying for the finances we need to finish Casa Gemma. Please consider prayerfully to give towards this project. Any amount will help us to build this home.

Thank you so much,

I can just imagine Peter busy with his fishing nets and the next moment a complete stranger asks him to follow him. Peter just left everything without any questions. Peter followed without knowing where this stranger is going. Peter left his job, his family, friends and his own comforts on the call of a stranger.

The question “come and follow me” is still asked by Jesus today. The call to leave everything behind and walk the journey with Jesus. This call comes at a cost to us and many times it is to hard for us to follow. The call to the lost, the abandoned, the orphaned and the widowed is echoed in our hearts everyday. Jesus will continue to call until every knee bows to worship His Father.

Will you answer the call and lay down your life so that others may live?

The need here in Mozambique can be overwhelming if you focus on the big picture of poverty. Many days we have people knock on our front gate for help or Social Welfare bringing a new child to our house. We decided many years ago to adopt the teaching of Heidi Baker to stop for the one Jesus puts in front of us. So each mother, aunt, uncle or child that comes to us we know Jesus brought to us. How do we respond to people that Jesus put in front of us, the beggar on the street corner standing with a sign?Few weeks ago a mother came with triplets to ask for help. Three more babies that need milk formula, we know Jesus brought her to us, we do not have the money to help. Again our faith get’s challenged, our compassion and our love for Jesus. How do you say no to a desperate mother, whose babies need milk. Daily we face people who needs help, each one of us where ever we are, how will we respond. It reminds me of the story of the good Samaritan, who stopped and help. So many times we look the other way, have an very good excuse.I challenge you to stop for the person Jesus puts in front of you, to have compassion that flows from your love for Jesus. Jesus were moved by compassion, let us follow His example.

Heidi Baker writes in her book that passion for Jesus overflows in compassion for people. When I read this phrase it really challenged my personal life and walk with Jesus. Daily little voices call out Papa Pieter to me and when I respond to their call it brings great joy. I know real compassion is only found by throwing ourselves in the arms of Jesus and to live in His heart. Many days I feel tired and I know that only by drawing closer to Jesus I can love every child He has brought to us. It is important for us to choose our passions and to not get distracted from what makes Jesus passionate.

His auntie started to tell his story, that his mother died and that his father is dead. He is only a year and seven months old and are already using anti retroviral. His auntie have three other children and she can not care for him. His weight dropped alarmingly the last few months, he is literally skin and bones, and also dehydrated. We offer him some food and drink and you can see that he had nothing to eat and drink for days. We knew that we have to take him in, knowing that he would die if he did not receive any help. It must be so hard losing your parents so early in your life and then having to fight AIDS at such a young stage in your life. He came to sit next to me on the couch, and I looked at his frail body, as I play with him I realize how hard life must be for him. There is no smile on his face, his eyes have no life, but I know that Jesus will change his life. We know the love of Jesus will give him new life.

Our Toyota Condor is not four wheel drive, but we hope for the best as we drive past many grass huts grouped into little villages. Eventually we reached the place where Quteria’s family live. Under a tree I saw loads of Marula fruit, which the villagers use to brew a local wine. Family started to appear from everywhere all them smiling broadly when they see Quiteria. We waited a while for her grandfather and grandmother to come home. They arrived on a bicycle, grandfather peddling in the front and grandmother on the back. They where extremely happy to see Quiteria and we could also experience how grateful they are that she is doing so well. We spent time visiting with the family and friends. Our boys and children from the village start chasing chickens through the village. We had a really good time visiting with the family, it was also good for Quiteria to spend time with her family. When we left we were given a live chicken as a gift. As we drove back I realized how happy these people were. They farm together as a community, the are completely dependent on one another, they lived in a small mud hut, yet they lacked nothing. The were absolutely content and happy. As westerners, we try to be independent, self sufficient and try to find our joy in material things. This trip to the family of Quiteria made me realize how little we really need to live and to live a life of abundance. We are really creatures of comfort, everything we do is to make our life more comfortable. Even when we go to church we go to receive and be comfortable. Rarely are we challenged to move from our comfort zones and reach out. Jesus should be our example as we follow Him. When last have you stepped out from what is comfortable for you? Today Jesus ask us to stop and to reach out to the people He places in front of us. (Photo’s: Marula fruit and Quiteria with family)

What will make a mother abandon her child next to the road, what brought her to this place in her life. We asked this question when we received two month old Josef. The answer may lie in the fact that he tested HIV positive to his first test. His mother probably have AIDS and she may not be able to care for him anymore. This is the circumstances for many mothers here in Mozambique, when they come to a place where it is no longer possible for them to care for their children, because of AIDS.We are looking for volunteers who want to give any amount of time to come and help us care for the children God has giving to us. If you love children and want to make a meaningful change in their lives, please have a look at our website, www.allnationsmozambique.org and please contact us. Teams of up to 10 people are also welcome to come and help us here in Mozambique. All Nations in Mozambique are part of the All Nations Family, Floyd and Sally McClung are the founders of All Nations. All Nations also have training schools called CPx (church planting experience) in Kansas City and Cape Town.
