Stop for the one. October 21, 2010
The need here in Mozambique can be overwhelming if you focus on the big picture of poverty. Many days we have people knock on our front gate for help or Social Welfare bringing a new child to our house. We decided many years ago to adopt the teaching of Heidi Baker to stop for the one Jesus puts in front of us. So each mother, aunt, uncle or child that comes to us we know Jesus brought to us. How do we respond to people that Jesus put in front of us, the beggar on the street corner standing with a sign?Few weeks ago a mother came with triplets to ask for help. Three more babies that need milk formula, we know Jesus brought her to us, we do not have the money to help. Again our faith get’s challenged, our compassion and our love for Jesus. How do you say no to a desperate mother, whose babies need milk. Daily we face people who needs help, each one of us where ever we are, how will we respond. It reminds me of the story of the good Samaritan, who stopped and help. So many times we look the other way, have an very good excuse.I challenge you to stop for the person Jesus puts in front of you, to have compassion that flows from your love for Jesus. Jesus were moved by compassion, let us follow His example.
